The Interview call that never came :(

One puts in everything for the Mains. So not getting an interview call can be quite shattering. The most destructive and self defeating of thoughts begin to creep in. “Can I possibly do better than what I have already done. Haven’t I worked really really hard? I haven’t made it despite all that. Do I really stand a chance in which case?"

Though one wouldn’t admit it openly, just about everyone who writes the Mains exams expects an interview call. This is probably because they gain confidence after clearing the first hurdle in the form of the Prelims. And everyone positively works really really hard in the few weeks separating the declaration of Prelims results and the Mains examination.

Even if one is a little less satisfied with a certain answer in the Optional paper and that bouncer in the General Studies paper that only economists/historians can answer, weeks after the Mains exams one tends to actually forget one’s performance. That is the optimist in one, becomes increasingly assertive and dominant in wishful thinking.

It’s very demoralizing and painful and takes weeks to get over.
So when DS called from Delhi to unburden his heart, I lived through the pain and bitterness of summer of 2007 all over again.

I tried my best to put him at ease and cheer him up, but deep down we both knew that it was actually a matter of time.

I really appreciate your optimistism of putting your experience into words. It must have given you incalculable relief from demotivating factor of your success. I am wondering how you have made your struggling life turned into hilarious events!!!...I am deeply impressed from your optimistic attitude and zeal for acheivement. And just believes in GOD. As it’s our job to put in our best efforts and its God work to give us satisfying results and if he is delaying your prayers, he must have kept something special for you. Always remember “Our greatest glory is not in ever falling but in rising every time we fall."
Now after so much motivational words, I can't hold myself back to reveal you other side of success and failures. Though its bit discouraging but really mind relieving.” If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then quit. There's no use being a damn fool about it"....lolz. It’s my policy of life, so it’s self-explanatory why I had never thought of stepping into civil services. Now don't consider last words as your scenario need to stick to first one. I know you gonne make a mark. So never lose courage and enthusiasm. I’ll be waiting to hear fascinating results from you........

……omg Shree, the condition of putting in 300 words is getting on to my nerves. Is there any option to reduce this word limit? Even in the IELTS test, they don’t ask for this much lengthy essays. I am lettering this useless talk just to amplify the word count so this is optional for you to read this worthless talk. Generally one needs few sentences to post a comment but this blogger post has made this surplus condition of 300 words….after this elongated writing….I m really feeling sleeping…
Best of luck.
Bye bye bye…………..ahhh…..300!!!

You are right, I thought so too that is why I enquired twice but these numbers sre what I heard.

Mind you I did not ask myself. One of my friends was going there so I asked him to ascertain Geography cut-off. But GS cut-off of around 50-55 is corroborated by other coaching institutes too.
